I am so happy you are visiting my blog so we can get to know each other!
I am a wife to John, mother of Michele, Darren and Jamie, mother-in-law to Tim and Keith, grandmother of Kristopher, Kelly, Katie and Logan, and great grandmother of Wesley. In 2021, John and I moved from Southern California to Minnesota to be near my daughter and her family. Moving from our home to senior living has brought with it many challenges that I know others are experiencing, too. It is my heart’s desire to encourage others on their journey as they follow mine here on my blog.
Over the years I have served as a speaker for Stonecroft Ministries, women’s retreats and other events. I love to share my life experiences in an engaging way to inspire others to give their lives to Christ and draw closer to Jesus.
I am passionate about using personal stories to inspire people and have had many stories published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books, in Guideposts Magazines and I even had a one-syllable only published in Short and Sweet.
Here in Minnesota, I started a group called Heart to Heart for the senior citizens where I live. This has become my new way of serving as I adjust to this new season of life. When you are a follower of Jesus, there is no such thing as retirement! In fact, there are lots of things I love to do!
I love books and reading! In addition to writing stories, I love reading them!
I love Angels Baseball! My husband and I met in the Angels Baseball Booster Club handing out promotions at the gate. You can take this girl out of California, but you can’t take the Angels out of her life!
I love movies! John worked as an actor in movies, television, and commercials when we lived in California. So it’s no wonder I love movies, especially romantic comedies, action movies, and mysteries.
I love all types of Christian music! From the old familiar hymns to the modern praise songs. John and I were in our church choir in California and we enjoyed it so much.
I love to travel! I have been to all the United States except Alaska, and North and South Carolina. My family traveled when I was a child and it made me love seeing how other people lived in different parts of the country.
In recent years I have loved taking trips with friends from church on the American Queen paddlewheel cruises. It is so fun stopping in all the port towns to see the sights and when the boat leaves each stop, they play the calliope. It is a peaceful and fun way to travel the rivers, eat great food and be entertained on the boat in the evenings.
I love people! My husband always says that I never met a stranger. He doesn’t understand why I feel compelled to even talk to people in an elevator but there you are squished in together. Why not say “Hello, how are you today?” Maybe you are the only one who has been friendly to them today.
I find all people interesting. Their attitudes and facial expressions are so different. What makes one friendly and smiling and another one cranky and frowning? We all started out the same; created in God’s image with special talents, gifts and purpose. I find happiness in service and I think by glorifying God in everything we do and say, we can point others to Him.
That is one of the reasons why I have decided to start this blog. This part of my life journey has kept me from engaging with others the way I am used to, so I am hoping to find a new community of people to encourage and inspire. And a place where I can find encouragement and inspiration.
I hope you enjoy my stories and poems as much as I enjoy writing them. And I would love to hear about your life journey and the things you love to do!
Blessings,
Judee
